Framing

Our Frames

Each Bradford Frame is historically accurate and individually built in California. Our frames are meticulously finished by hand from master craftsmen with decades of experience. We choose only the best hand selected gold leafing imported from Germany and Italy to finish all our pieces. Additionally, each frame is individually hand antiqued with our proprietary patina finish to give it the distinctly rich look and feel of a museum masterpiece.

Our frames are made from scratch. We do not use the less expensive (and unfortunately industry standard) “chop and join” molding. Rather, each of our individually built frames have closed corners with no visible seams.

22 karat gold hand engraved nameplates

In addition, each Bradford frame comes with a hand engraved 22 kt. gold nameplate; a signature trademark of a Bradford Portrait. Our nameplate artist is one of only a very select group in the world trained in this classic art. Her nameplates are found on the private art collection in the California State Senate, as well as on the finer paintings of the Hammer Galleries in New York City, Anderson Galleries in Beverly Hills, and on multi-million dollar original works of Monet, Renoir, Degas, and Mary Cassatt to name a few. This prestigious detail will give a finishing touch of authenticity to your portrait. Our nameplate artist will not accept work from any other photographer, assuring exclusivity to our clients. It may be of interest to note that each nameplate is individually hand-cut from only the most carefully chosen poplar wood. A minimum of six preparatory coatings are then applied to the wood piece, with hand-sanding between each layer. Twenty-two karat gold, imported from Italy, is then hand applied with just the right amount of antiquing. Your custom lettering is then engraved by hand (not machine) before a final coat of sealing primer is applied.

Finally, every Bradford frame is completed with a hand crafted frame light to perfectly illuminate the artistry of your portrait.

Individuals who are connoisseurs of art will immediately recognize your attention to detail in framing your portrait.
